HOSPICE



Boquete Hospice and Health Support provides end of life care and is totally committed to the truth that death is natural but can be experienced with dignity and minimal pain. We provide care and support through all the phases of incurable or degenerative disease so that each of us can live our last days fully aware and as comfortable as possible.
Trained volunteers, who are the heart and soul of the organization, and associated professionals, provide help with the following:

Medical referrals and treatment coordination
Grocery shopping, meal preparation and other domestic chores
Securing medical equipment such as a hospital beds, walkers, wheelchairs, etc.
Obtaining in-home professional medical services
Dealing with the emotional difficulties associated with dying
Coordinating and scheduling volunteer visits and respite care for family caregivers
Transportation to medical appointments
Spending time with the patient, actively listening and attending to the patient
Bereavement follow-up services

Admission to hospice requires the following:

Patient has a primary care provider willing to be available 24 hours per day. This can be one or a combination of several family members, friends, neighbors and or church/club acquaintances
Family members of the patient or other responsible individuals agree to participate in the care plan
Life expectancy is estimated to be six months or less, and there are no plans for or availability of active treatment
Must have physician overseeing their care
